Looks like a sword to me. There is a crystal axe in Nightfall that I found called the Blade Axe. I put it on Guild Wiki during the PvE event. I think it should be renamed to Crystalline Axe cause it looks like an axe made of crystal.

the reason it's not named "Crystalline Axe" is that people excpect anything crystalline to be uber rare, and finding a cheap axe like that with such a big name would have a bad effect on the crystalline sword.
Crystalline sword = gold, plats, ectos...
Crystalline axe = maybe the soles of my old boots.
All of this is just my opinions so hold those flames.

The axe seems to be kin to the Dragon Swords, there is a Fiery Blade Axe (red blade) and Icy Blade Axe (blue blade pictured above).
There are some weapons that really don't look at all like what they're supposed to be, so I don't have a problem with the Crystalline Sword being a sword.

The crystalline sword looks like a cleaver to me, and the cleaver is classified as an axe.
A new skin probably will not be created and the Crystalline not re-classified, but point is well made.

Do you expect everything to look like your standard longsword for it to be a sword? Duh, no, its more interesting varied design styles.

I think the Crystaline Sword looks like a sword.
I think the cleaver is more axe like.

Really... what's this about? :P
A Crystalline Sword looks like a sword to me, how is it an axe?
A cleaver is like a thing you use in the kitchen, but I can't say the same of a Crystalline Sword.
Also, if they just rename the Crystalline Sword to Crystalline Axe, they should change the damage mod as well, since it's an axe then. That means they should change the mods of all existing ones as well, if not, ALOT of people owning a Crystalline will be mad.
Also, let's say someone has a 14-21 Crystalline Sword, would it be changed to 6-28 (max dmg) then? Even though it wasn't max dmg before. This would bring down the price of Crystalline Swords (Axes in that case) a bit.
Anyway, I'd say don't touch the Crystalline Sword, and don't make a Crystalline Axe either. The Crystalline Sword is unique now, and let's keep it that way ^^

Axes have a handle, Swords have a handle. Axes have a blade, Swords have a blade. The shape and size of the blade is what defines the difference between the two, but many variations of swords and axes abstract the line between the two types of weapons. Axes tend to have heavier blades, but there are swords with very heavy blades as well.
Compare the Cleaver (Axe) with the Dusk Blade. (Sword)
Seems to me the only difference is a triangle on the end of the blade.
In conclusion, whether it's really a sword or really an axe, the Crystalline skin is extremely ugly, so lets all stop talking about it

Wouldn't that make the Fellblade, the Vertebreaker, and every other sword in game with a hacking-type blade a axe?
Fellblade looks more like the Cleaver than a Crystalline does.

crystaline swords do look kinda stupid, not something that LOOKS like the best (most wanted) weapon in the game.
then again..all we get in games is elven looking, or evil looking swords.
the gw crystaline sword is pretty unique

Just make a Crystalline Axe that is extremely axe-like in appearance.
Also make a Crystalline Hammer while they're at it.

The cleaver is a bad example of a "tipical axe." Try comparing a dusk blade with a gothic axe. There is a much bigger difference.

I don't like crystalline swords or any hello kitty type of weapon for that matter. What I would like is some mean, lean, bad-ass steel weapons with nicer art. I just love the Long Sword and the Sephis Axe. Now, those are WEAPONS, not shiny plastic toys like celestials and the like.
